Adult Faith formation is a lifelong, holistic process to develop disciples of Jesus committed to authentic Catholic Teaching and Gospel values. St. Mary of the Angels Church has a long tradition of adult faith formation that has been funded by bequests to provide quality programs throughout the year. Many of these sessions are presented in the parish’s recently renovated Kathleen Wright Conference Center, a state-of-the-art facility.
Recent topics for study offered include:
The Letter of James; Bishop Robert Barron’s “CATHOLICISM” series; Theology of the Body; Mary: A Biblical Walk with The Blessed Mother; a Catholic Women’s Conference; and The Great Adventure Bible Study program.
Morning Star Family Holy Hour recently sponsored “Faith-Filled Family Fridays” (two Fridays a month) focused on family faith formation which included study of Pope Francis’ Letter to Families and fun boardgames for kids.
Annual Retreats are held in rotation among the three local Olean Catholic parishes. In 2016, Most Rev. Donald Trautman, Bishop Emeritus of Erie, was retreat director with a focus on the Year of Mercy.
Family Faith Formation—Morning Star Family Holy Hour, an international Catholic ministry instituted and based at St. Mary of the Angels Parish, is dedicated to supporting families in prayer and adoration. The Holy Hour combines prayer, singing, silent reflection and catechetics appropriate for children but in concert with adults in attendance.
